Another Pioneer Gone

Bengt Carl Anderson, an old resident of Stanton died here last Tuesday forenoon  [19 Dec 1905] at 11:30 after suffering about six weeks with cancer of the stomach.  While his death was expected in measure, yet its suddeness made it a complete surprise to all.
Mr. Anderson was born in Halland, Sweden, June 24, 1835, and at the time of his death was over 70 years of age.  He came to America in 1868, was married the same year to Hannah Monson in Burlington, and in a short time moved to Stanton where he has since made his home.  He leaves to mourn his death, a brother and sister in Sweden, a wife and six children: Edward of Newman Grove, Neb., Charles and Ben, Mrs. Leonard Newberg, Mrs. Luther Ossian and Miss Veda, all of Stanton, and a host of acquaintances.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 1:30 at the home, just at the edge of town and at 2:00 o'clock in the church, conducted by Rev. Randolph.  All the children are home for the funeral, though Ben, who was in Omaha, and Edward did not arrive until their father's death.

  2. Dr. Bill - thanks for the encouragement! Blogs are new to me, and I have high hopes that I can find some cousins out there with which to collaborate.
